How Does 29 Team Double-Elimination Tournament Work?
A 29 team double-elimination tournament consists of three main brackets:
Winner’s Bracket
In a 29 team tournament, the overall layout follows a single-elimination bracket for 29 teams, with multiple rounds and matchups used to determine which teams advance.
That said, a loss in the winners’ bracket doesn’t end a team’s run.
Loser’s Bracket
Here, the participants have a second chance: if they win all games in this bracket, they can play in the finals!
Finals
In a 29 team tournament, the finals begin with a showdown between the last team standing in the losers bracket and the team that most recently fell from the winners bracket. The loser of this game finishes in 3rd place, while the winner moves on to the Grand Final to challenge the undefeated winners’ bracket team for the championship.
If the winner of the Grand Final game has not lost, they’re the champion of the tournament!
Our tournament app takes care of the entire process automatically, keeping the bracket up to date and recording results so you don’t have to manage anything yourself.
Seeding
You can select between seeded, blind draw, or manual pairing for the initial round:
- seeded: Top-ranked players will meet in later rounds of the tournament.
- blind draw: The participants will get shuffled and paired randomly.
- manual seeding: Players will be paired in the order entered, with the last ones assigned byes (if necessary).
